THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY
DIVERSITY IN CANCER RESEARCH
This year, the funds raised during our program will have an additional opportunity to support the American Cancer Society's Diversity In Cancer Research Program. This program, is a one-of-a-kind solution to the lack of workforce diversity within the scientific community.
The DICR program selects undergraduate students from underrepresented communities with an interest in scientific research, and partners them with accomplished mentors currently working in cancer research labs or community settings at leading research institutions, such as teaching hospitals, universities, medical schools, and cancer centers.
Over the course of 10 weeks these students gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to be a full-time cancer researcher, and hopes to contribute to the diversification of the cancer research field in the near and immediate future.
